Electric cars are not getting so many attention worlds wide because of various reasons like a bad pickup, hard to find a service station, high cost. But World-changing rapidly & due to the high rate of pollution, every carmaker now plans to move on the electric one. Now Hyundai moves one step forward by revealing it’s the first car as electric SUV in India name as Kona but the main problem which arises during purchasing of electric cars are high taxation on Electric vehicles, high after maintenance cost as well as high manufacturing cost. Let’s see Hyundai Kona will successful or not by its a first electric vehicle.
Kia Motors is the second brand to be entered in India market in 2019 by their phenomenal product like Stinger & Rio. But these two products can’t match the choice of Indian customers so the company may require to rethink the concept of the car & finally by solving their mistake the new revolutionary product from Kia is going to be launched soon into their Indian market called as “Seltoes” which comes under SUV segment ,but SUV market in India is on the boom & competition in between companies is tough after launching MG hector so is new Seltoes may be another powerful competitor of Hector or it may like other cars of Kia?
Design & Looks of Hyundai Kona & Kia Seltos:
Well, Electric cars have been designed differently as compared to IC engine vehicles & you also feel some difference in the shape of the hood, interior space,& dimension also & definitely space in terms of headroom & legroom is more in the electric vehicle because of elimination of heavy component of IC engine. Yes, the design of Kona looks futuristic with LED’s DRL’s on the top with turn indicators & LED projectors at the bottom. While fog lamp can not be seen in the design leaked by Hyundai. Side frame consist of chrome door handles with a black finish on the wheel housing. Hopefully, 16/17 inches of diamond cut alloy wheels can be expected from Kona while revealing it’s specification. The overall design is almost the same as previous Kona as launched world wide.
Looks are fantastic & match the concept of future cars by it’s all-new 6 LEDs headlamps with tiger-nose grill & Heartbeat DRL which enhance the aggression of cars & matches the identity of premium cars.
Side profile consist of double 5 spoke alloy wheels with diamond cut design with door chrome handles & 70 kg high roof rail capacity.
Rear part consists of chrome strip running across tailgate & connect the both LED tail lamps. Seltoes also consisting of plastic body cladding that runs from front to wheel arches & extended from rear bumpers.
Interior of Kia Seltoes & Hyundai Kona:
Interior of Kona will definitely fell royal with classic grey colour as standard. Lot’s of extraordinary features like TPMS ( Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), New wired gear shift which helps a lot in the easy-shifting of gears & in the new Kona gear ratio is the lowest as compared to its rivals. 7 seating option is not available & even Hyundai will plan to do so but yes with it’s 5 seating capacity you will get sufficient space in terms of legroom & headroom.
Seltoes is expected to get a 10.25 inches of touch screen infotainment system with all the basic features like apple car play & android auto, but the company not officially reveal smart voice command assistance as in MG hector so if smart voice command is not installed in Seltoes than it’s hard to compete MG hector because in terms of design both Hector & Seltoes almost look similar so only features, engine & technology can differentiate these two cars & also judge which is the winner in the SUV segment.
Engine & Transmission of Kia Seltos:
Well officially engine specification was not launched yet but probably 1.5 L OF petrol & diesel engine may expect (1497 cc) produces the power of 90 BHP with 200 Nm of torque. In terms of power, it’s less than 2.0 L (1997 cc) engine as in Tata Harrier & MG Hector but yes officially exact cc may not launch so it’s not necessary to compare.
Is Electric Kona gives us such performance & power as IC engines:
Definitely, you will see the difference in terms of power when you will drive the electric vehicle but Kona will give you another level experience by it’s a fantastic acceleration from(0-100 km/h) in just 9.7 s & it’s equal to a Tata Tiago pickup. The main advantage of Kona while driving is its different modes during different conditions. ECO, Sport, Normal mode, these modes will help to drive differently like sport’s mode helps you for quick pick up, Eco mode helps you to achieve maximum efficiency & city mode called as normal mode.
Weight of the battery’s & motors are less comparatively so definitely a weight of electric SUV equals to a sedan. These batteries provided 136 Ps of power same as 1.3-litre petrol engine so it’s a very positive step of Hyundai to introduce an electric vehicle in India.
Conclusion & Pricing:
Well in terms of design & it’s another specification Kia Seltoes seems to be a powerful competitor against Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier & MG hector.
Definitely, you will see a lot of variation in pricing because LITHIUM-ION BATTERY used to power the car is very costly so if Kona comes with petrol/diesel engine than price may vary from 15-18 lakhs.
Pricing of Hyundai Kona starts from 22 lakhs & goes up to 26 lakhs
